Non-Stop Cricket Champs!

Wow Room R5, we have done it again! Kowhai sport champs for Term 4! Here is a short video of the game.

Koito's Arcade Game

Koito was inspired by Caine to create this arcade shooting game. It is really hard to get the paper ball in the hoop.

One of the features of her game is that you shoot the ball from a distance that is age dependent.

Whale Evolution

We have been learning about the evolution of cetaceans (whales, dolphins and porpoises). Did you know that cetaceans are the marine mammal descendants of land mammals? Jacob created this awesome illustration of what he learnt.

Dancing with a Star

Today we had the absolute pleasure of working with Tupua Tigafua, a professional dancer. It was so much fun. We did a lot of workshopping around dance theatre and came up with some awesome movement. Here is a video of the highlights: 

Rice Birthday Cake!

Have you ever heard of or seen a cake made of rice? Well, Room 5 has. Koito showed us once again just how talented she is by bringing in a rice cake for Lina's birthday that she made with her mum. It was delicious, it tasted like sushi!

Thank you very much Koito! That was the most amazing cake I have ever received! 

Stuck in the Stone Age

We are currently creating costumes for our school production. We have used Pixlr Editor to come up with some designs. Here is a slideshow of our ideas.

Chromebook Catastrophe!

During the holidays, our class was burgled and the robbers took our Chromebooks! We are really upset and feel very sad and angry.

Charlette's Frog

Today Charlette brought her frog to school for its final visit before she releases it into the wild. Charlette and her mum shared some really interesting facts about frogs with us and then we got the chance to hold the frog!

Kowhai Basketball Champs!

On Thursday, we won the Kowhai basketball final. Here is a short video with some highlights.

WW1 Horses

Room 5 have been sharing their learning about war horses by creating posters.

101 Days of School!

Unfortunately we were unable to celebrate 100 days of school so we had a 101 day party instead! We had a lot of fun. One of the activities we did was to see if we could read 101 books. Room 5 were so determined to reach 101 that they read 126 books! Every time a book was read, it had to be entered in a Google Doc: Here are the results.

The Chromebooks have landed!

Our letters to Jude must have been very convincing because this week we were able to use the Chromebooks for the first time! We took a special trip down to Ruma 12 to open the boxes and work on some collaborative Google Documents.
