14 Days Until Christmas

We have been very busy with Christmas related activities in R5. We have been using the Literacy Shed videos as inspiration for our writing. Here are two adverts from John Lewis.

Today we used our senses to write poems about Christmas. We published these poems in many different ways. Here is some of our finished work.

Koito's Arcade Game

Koito was inspired by Caine to create this arcade shooting game. It is really hard to get the paper ball in the hoop.

One of the features of her game is that you shoot the ball from a distance that is age dependent.

Here are Zephaniah and Brooke giving it a go.

The Lorax 1972

Today, as part of our study of The Lorax by Dr Suess, we watched the movie that was made in 1972. We had to fill in a plan of the event while we were watching. Once we had finished watching the movie, we had to use our plans to write a news report about what happened.

Here is Sakina's news report.

Ben F has written his news report in Samoan!

Koito wrote her report in Japanese!

Rice Birthday Cake!

Have you ever heard of or seen a cake made of rice? Well, Room 5 has. Koito showed us once again just how talented she is by bringing in a rice cake for Lina's birthday that she made with her mum. It was delicious, it tasted like sushi!

Thank you very much Koito! That was the most amazing cake I have ever received!

Future Playgrounds on Minecraft

As part of our Learning Pathways topic: Future Focus, we spent a big chunk of term 3 creating futuristic playgrounds on Minecraft.

We used our designs to create playgrounds on Minecraft, we then had to take screenshots of the most important features in our playgrounds and import them into iMovie. We then used iMovie to make movies about our playgrounds.

Here are some of the movies.

As part of our learning pathways study, we have been looking at inventions. This week the children in the Kowhai syndicate had the homework task of bringing a technological object to school. They needed to describe its function and how it worked.
