Collaborative Narratives

We have been writing narratives collaboratively. We were given a dull story about a lonely spider that we thought was a Level 1 example. We had to work in pairs to improve the story in order to show what a Level 2/3 exemplar would look like. Here are some of our results.

101 Days of School!

Unfortunately we were unable to celebrate 100 days of school so we had a 101 day party instead! We had a lot of fun. One of the activities we did was to see if we could read 101 books. Room 5 were so determined to reach 101 that they read 126 books! Every time a book was read, it had to be entered in a Google Doc: Here are the results.

Well done Room 5!

Here is a slideshow of the other party activities we did!

How to look after Chromebooks

Today we used the Chromebook Guidelines we created to make movies using iMovie on the iPad. It was a hard process.

Here is a movie by Sebastian, Jessica and Rory. They were so determined to finish their movie that they worked through lunchtime!

The Chromebooks have landed!

Our letters to Jude must have been very convincing because this week we were able to use the Chromebooks for the first time! We took a special trip down to Ruma 12 to open the boxes and work on some collaborative Google Documents.

Chromebook Guidelines - Collaborative Google Doc

Hi R5, today we will be working on a collaborative Google Doc to come up with some guidelines for the use of our new Chromebooks. If you can not find the Doc in your Google Drive folder, you can get there by clicking on this link:

Why R5 should get Chromebooks

This week we have been writing letters to our Principal - Jude. We wrote to persuade Jude that Room 5 should have Chromebooks. We had to outline how we would use them for our learning and how we would look after them. We had to use strong persuasive language. Here is Mary's letter.

Why Kid's TV Shows are Educational

Finley has written a speech to persuade adults that some kid's TV programmes are educational and worth watching. He decided to present his speech using Google Slides. He has figured out how to insert videos into his slides to give examples for each main point of his speech.
